The College of Education Holds International Symposium on Knowledge Exchange and Knowledge Entrepreneurship in the Era of New Globalization
In early November, International Symposium on Knowledge Exchange and Knowledge Entrepreneurship in the Era of New Globalization was hosted by Zhejiang University. This symposium was jointly organized by College of Education of Zhejiang University, UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurial Education at Zhejiang University, UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network (EE-Net) National Chapter in China, and Communication University of Zhejiang. More than 50 representatives from the United States, Britain, Italy, Australia, Finland, Singapore, South Korea, China and UNESCO attended the symposium, and more than 300 teachers, students and scholars attended online and offline.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor KAN Yue, Deputy Dean of ZJU’s College of Education. On behalf of UNESCO, Mr. Robert Parua, education programme specialist of UNESCO Beijing Office, expressed congratulations on the convening of the conference. He introduced UNESCO's efforts to promote knowledge exchange and knowledge entrepreneurship in framework of SDG4, and hoped that the representatives and experts attending the meeting would actively offer suggestions.
Prof. XU Xiaozhou, Chair holder of UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurial Education at Zhejiang University, President of UNESCO EE-Net National Chapter in China and President of Communication University of Zhejiang, stressed the significance of knowledge entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange to globalization, appreciated the efforts made by UNESCO in promoting international educational exchanges, and stated that he would further strengthen in-depth cooperation with all stakeholders in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship education.
Ms. LAN Jingjing, Director of Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, introduced the work and achievements of Zhejiang Province in promoting opening up of the education and international education exchange and cooperation, appreciated the long-term cooperation between UNESCO and Zhejiang University, and wished this symposium a great success.
Marco Osnato, member of the House of Representatives of Italy, delivered a speech through a video. Both China and Italy are big countries with traditional culture and have broad prospects for cooperation and a high willingness to cooperate. He looked forward to continuing collaboration between the two sides.
The opening ceremony of the conference also held the launching ceremony of the monograph Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education in China: Responding to Social Change by Professor XU Xiaozhou.
The symposium was divided into the following three sessions: new challenges and new opportunities of innovation and entrepreneurship education in the new era of globalization, university innovation and entrepreneurship and sustainable development, and high quality development of innovation and entrepreneurship education. Professors from institutions including Tsinghua University, Nanyang Technological University, Turku University of Applied Science and Zhejiang University shared the most advanced research regarding knowledge exchange and entrepreneurship.
Professor KAN Yue summarized the symposium at the closing session. The meeting is of great significance to the sustainable development of entrepreneurship education in the future. He thanked all delegates and guests for their support and participation.
